Matalascañas: A legendary paradise at the gates of Doñana
Matalascañas is a unique place because it is literally the last bastion of civilization before entering one of the wildest places in Europe. If you stay there, these curiosities will make you see its beach and streets in a different way:
- The "Granite Plug" (La Piedra). If you look out to sea, you will see a huge rock protruding from the waves. It is not a whimsical natural formation. It is the Torre de la Higuera, one of the 16th century watchtowers that protected the coast from Barbary pirates.
The Lisbon earthquake of 1755 (the same one that destroyed much of the peninsula) completely overturned it. What you see today are its foundations looking to the sky - it's a stone shipwreck!
- The "Amazon" of birds at a glance You are at the gateway to Doñana, but what few people know is that Matalascañas is the best "hotel" in the world.
More than 300 species of birds cross here every year on their route between Europe and Africa.
- The town that "walks" (The moving dunes) Matalascañas is surrounded by a system of dunes that are alive.
The westerly wind pushes the sand inland, creating dunes that advance several metres per year. These dunes come to "bury" entire pine trees, leaving only the tops outside, creating a landscape that looks like from another planet (the famous "corrals").

Very close to the urbanized area, a storm in 2020 uncovered something incredible:
Neanderthal and prehistoric animal footprints (such as straight tusked elephants) etched into the fossilized mud from over 100,000 years ago. It is one of the most important hominid footprint sites in the world.

If you walk east (towards the mouth of the Guadalquivir), you enter 30 kilometres of absolute virgin beach without a single building. It is one of the few places in the Mediterranean/Atlantic where you can walk for hours without seeing a single brick.
- Our perfect plan: Don't miss the sunset at the Marine World Museum (in the Dunar Park). The sun sets right over the Atlantic and the orange light on the white sand of the dunes is possibly the best free show in the area.

The resort is new, so everything is in very good condition. The security was very good which gave us peace of mind with the kids. Pool area very very good

Un resort diferente, a favor primeras marcas, todo a casi estrenar, mucha animación, piscina de olas y pequeños parque acuático, horario para españoles, tren a la playa, seguridad privada, muchos socorristas.

On the other hand, our room did not have a place to "air out" the towels even though we saw that others have a little balcony or patio.
As a criticism, the furniture feels cheap and proof of that is that after just three months, there were things that were noticeably damaged, the pastel paint is very nice but dirty, and the pool floor... I hope that the passage of time does not suddenly affect the facilities because it is a good hotel and a good concept for families.
La insonorización de nuestra habitación era mala, se escuchaba mucho a los vecinos y las tuberías de agua.
Por otro lado, nuestra habitación no tenía un sitio donde poder "airear" las toallas aunque vimos que otras si tienen balconcito o patio.
Y como critica, el mobiliario se siente barato y prueba de ello es que tras tan solo tres meses, había cosas que se notaban estropeadas, la pintura pastel es muy bonita pero sucia y el suelo de la piscina ... espero que el paso del tiempo no pase factura de forma brusca a las instalaciones porque es un buen hotel y un buen concepto para las familias.

Me he llevado una decepción bastante grande.

El ambiente del hotel es un tanto extraño .
Las habitación para ser un hotel de 4 estrellas bastante pequeñas y ni siquiera tiene armarios .. unas simples estanterías con perchas .
El recinto es bonito y para los niños está fenomenal además que hacen bastante actividades .
Pero también he de decir que los toboganes que creo que es la mayor atracción están mal hechos o el mantenimiento inadecuado ... No hay persona que se suba y no se haga rasguños con las juntas .
Las hamacas de plástico y bastantes incómodas .
Y ya para ponerle la guinda al pastel el buffet.. es mísero y escueto .. las mesas y sillas son súper endebles y una mesa pegada a la otra con lo que apenas hay espacio.
Había una cantidad de gente superior a lo que puede abarcar el hotel .. en definitiva la valoracion mala para los precios que tiene y las estrellas que tiene lo único bueno que me llevo es que mi hija ha disfrutado mucho los niños se lo pasan bomba
