Tossa de Mar is home to the only fortified medieval town still preserved on the Catalan coast, creating a magical mix of sea, history and charming corners waiting to be discovered.
What you can’t miss
- Vila Vella, the old walled town: This is the true symbol of Tossa. Wander through its 13th-century walls, stroll along cobbled streets, climb up to the lighthouse and admire breathtaking sea views from the battlements. Every corner feels like stepping back in time.
- Beaches beneath the castle: Platja Gran is the iconic beach of Tossa, located right below the walls and offering one of the most famous views on the Costa Brava. Looking for something quieter? Cala Codolar, hidden beside the fortress, is a small sheltered cove with crystal-clear waters.
- The Camí de Ronda coastal path: One of the best ways to explore the area. These scenic trails run along cliffs and pine forests, leading to hidden coves with turquoise waters such as Cala Pola or Cala Giverola, perfect for switching off and relaxing by the sea.
- Seaside gastronomy: Tossa is also a fantastic destination for food lovers. Don’t leave without trying the traditional Cim i Tomba, a delicious fishermen’s stew made with fresh fish, potatoes and a touch of allioli. For the most authentic experience, choose one of the family-run restaurants in the pedestrian streets outside the walls.
Our recommendation
Visit Vila Vella in the late afternoon and stay until sunset. As the walls and towers light up, the whole town takes on a magical medieval atmosphere that’s even more special to explore once the daytime heat fades away.
Your perfect stay
- These completely renovated rooms have two rooms and a huge terrace of about 23m2 with hammocks. So, they are ideal for a family holiday and a short walk to the main beach in Tossa de Mar.
- The hotel is also gradually upgrading the standard rooms to superior rooms. There are currently 195.

Perfect hotel, perfect location, good food and animation in the evenings. Close to market, restaurants, see, castle, walking paths. A lot of Halloween decors in the hotel common space and activities! We liked there! Would like to return!

We came from Barcelona for a mini break and were so happy. The room was amazing! I was slighly worried when I saw we were on the first floor with a bar close-by but we heard NOTHING. The balcony was super and it was amazing to see the world walk by. Hardly any cars on the road and no noises from the bar. The room was spacious and all was super clean. The food was super too. A good variation and lots fresh fish and meats next to vegetarian dishes. They really made a fantastic buffet for al to enjoy with daily variations. Lots of fruit/cake/sweets/ creams for dessert if you have any space left. Breakfast was the same with pretty much all nationalities choices of breakfast available. The staff were all lovely. From the girls on the room floor to the reception and from the chefs to the people helping in the dining room. Mercedes (meercellig) was always cheery and wishing us good morning/ evening what makes such a difference. If het Teamleader reads this then I think you should reward her employee of the month with a extra paid day of or something.
TIP: bring a beach/pool towel or sheet as they don’t provide these.

Everything was perfect! Modern and clean rooms, delicious food, with wide variety of spanish and medditerrenean dishes, helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is located near to the beach and city centre. Hopefully we can come back soon!

Me parece curioso que un Hotel de 4 estrellas NO TENGA productos dulces en el Desayuno para DIABETICOS. De 4 días de estancia y realizada la correspondiente reclamación en Recepción y tomándose nota para pasar aviso a Dirección, NI CASO. NO HE TENIDO NADA. He tenido al final que pecar con algo de dulce normal, con la correspondiente subida de mi glucosa. Mucho que desear en este tema, ya que por lo demás el Bufett es fantástico. Tomar nota de subsanar el tema.

Habitaciones silenciosas, en general los clientes son familias por lo que por la noche es muy tranquilo. El hotel tiene muchas actividades y buenos servicios. El bufete tanto de desayuno como de cena es espectacular, muy bueno y variado.
