What to see in the Costa de Azahar
There are 16 towns and villages to leave your stress behind, with quiet family beaches and towns and villages with history and architecture.
Perhaps one of the most emblematic and picturesque is Peñíscola. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, it has the distinction of having been a papal seat in the 15th century. The Castle of Pope Luna is the most important monument in the city, which also boasts an old quarter, a parish church and an artillery park. Discover them with our hotel offers in Peñíscola!
Vinaròs or Vinaroz is another town on the Costa de Azahar that is not to be missed. Although it has fewer monuments, it also has fewer visitors, which makes it a very pleasant place to spend a few days in total relaxation. Its seafront is full of restaurants, cafés and pubs, so you can eat, drink and have fun whenever you like. And if your holiday coincides with the Vinaròs Carnival, you'll be able to enjoy one of the most famous rúas in Spain - check out our Carnival hotel deals and book your room!
You can also spend a great holiday at a great price in Benicarló. As well as its peaceful beaches, which are perfect for children, its main attractions are the church of San Bartolomé and the old convent of San Francisco. The same can be said of Alcalà de Xivert, where you will find the tourist centres of Alcossebre and Alcocéber, with apartments and hotels on the beach.
Oropesa del Mar is also on the list, with the Marina d'Or Resort, a full-service resort that won the award for best family resort in Spain, with full-board, half-board and bed and breakfast options.
Other important tourist resorts on the Castellón coast are Benicàssim, famous for hosting the FIB music festival every summer, and Castellón de la Plana, the capital of the province. It has an airport and excellent connections with the neighbouring Costa Dorada in Tarragona.
