What you shouldn’t miss:

• San Miguel Castle and the Roman remains: overlooking the town, this historic fortress offers incredible coastal views. At its feet, El Majuelo Park combines exotic gardens with the remains of a Roman fish salting factory dating back to the 4th century BC.
• Beaches for every taste: Playa de San Cristóbal is ideal for atmosphere, beach bars and long sunny days by the sea. For a more peaceful setting with a local feel, Playa Velilla is perfect for relaxing.
• El Peñón de San Cristóbal: these iconic rocks divide the coastline and offer one of the best viewpoints in town. Walk up the footbridges to enjoy the sea breeze and capture unforgettable holiday photos.

Our recommendation: don’t leave without trying the local tropical fruits. Custard apples, mangoes and loquats ripened on the tree can be found at the municipal market and are one of Almuñécar’s most delicious treasures.
