Why this destination is a must-visit
Cullera: where Hollywood vibes meet pirate legends and Mediterranean charm
Cullera is more than just sun and sand, it’s a destination full of surprising stories and hidden gems that most travellers never discover.
-
The only castle with its own “ID” The first thing that catches your eye is Cullera Castle, but look up the mountain and you’ll spot giant “CULLERA” letters, Hollywood style. These aren’t just for show, their white colour once helped ships identify the coastline from afar. It’s the most iconic sign in the entire Valencian Community.
-
Dragut’s Pirate Cave, one of a kind in Spain Cullera is home to the only museum in Spain dedicated to piracy inside a natural cave. According to legend, in 1550 the feared Barbary pirate Dragut, successor to Barbarossa, launched a surprise attack on the city. The impact was so devastating that Cullera was abandoned for years. Today, you can visit the very cave where he is said to have hidden before the raid.
-
The origin of the name, not what you think Although “Cullera” sounds like “spoon” in Valencian, its origins are completely different. The name comes from the Arabic “Qulayra”, meaning “summit” or “high place”, a reference to the mountain overlooking the sea.
-
A mountain with its own signature dish Did you know Cullera has its own official paella? Unlike the traditional Valencian version, Cullera’s paella is made with fish and seafood, following one golden rule: it must include cuttlefish figatells and fresh produce from the local fish market. A true culinary gem created to showcase the city’s identity.
-
The Sanctuary of the Virgen del Castillo and its magical descent One of the most spectacular moments of Cullera’s festivities is the “Descent of the Virgin”. As night falls, the winding path from the castle to the town lights up with torches and flares, creating a glowing river of fire down the mountain. A breathtaking experience.
-
The Júcar River, where the story meets the sea Cullera is one of the few places where a major river, the Júcar, flows directly into the Mediterranean. This creates a unique ecosystem where freshwater and saltwater fishing traditions coexist, dividing the town into two distinct and fascinating atmospheres.

Valencia, Mediterranean sunshine, culture, and flavour
With its perfect blend of Mediterranean charm, futuristic architecture, and traditional Spanish spirit, Valencia is one of Spain’s most vibrant coastal cities. Famous for its City of Arts and Sciences, golden beaches, and the world-famous paella, this is a destination where modern life and ancient history coexist beautifully. Whether you’re travelling as a couple or with the family, Valencia promises sunshine, culture, and a relaxed seaside vibe all year round.

Calidad precio buena.
