Why this destination is a must-visit

Pont de Suert, capital of the region of Alta Ribagorça, is one of those perfect destinations for those seeking nature, tranquility and pure mountain. Located in the Catalan Pyrenees and very close to the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, it combines the charm of a small Pyrenean village with a privileged environment for holidays for couples, families or lovers of hiking and adventure.

What to visit?

Among the main points of interest is the Church of the Assumption, a unique temple built in the twentieth century with a modern style unusual in mountain architecture. It is also worth strolling through the old town of El Pont de Suert, where traditional corners and streets with history are still preserved. Nearby is the impressive National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, one of the most spectacular natural areas of the Pyrenees, known for its glacial lakes and high mountain landscapes. Another interesting place is the Monastery of Lavaix, whose ruins evoke the medieval past of the area.

What to do?

This destination is ideal for outdoor activities all year round. You can go hiking in the Pyrenees, explore the trails that surround the valley or discover viewpoints with spectacular views. It is also very popular to practice adventure sports such as rafting or canyoning in the river Noguera Ribagorçana. In winter, many visitors take advantage of the proximity to the ski resorts of the Pyrenees to spend a day in the snow. And if you prefer something more relaxed, you can always enjoy quiet walks around the village or stroll through its small stores and cafes.

What to eat?

The gastronomy of the area is marked by traditional mountain flavors. Among the most typical dishes are the mountain escudella, hearty and perfect for cold days, grilled meat made with local products and sausages from the Ribagorça. Also very popular are the cheeses of the Pyrenees, made with cow's or sheep's milk, which reflect the region's livestock tradition.

Nearby excursions

From El Pont de Suert you can discover spectacular places within walking distance. One of them is Boí Taüll, famous for its ski resort and the Romanesque churches of the Boí Valley, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Another highly recommended holiday is Vielha, capital of the Aran Valley, a beautiful mountain village with Pyrenean atmosphere, Aranese gastronomy and an impressive natural environment.

  • Until August 25 you must book a minimum of 3 nights stay.
