Cala Millor: kilometres of white sand and turquoise waters

Its biggest attraction is one of the island’s most spectacular urban beaches, combined with a peaceful European atmosphere and a fantastic leisure scene.

What you can’t miss:

  • A beach straight out of a Caribbean postcard: almost two kilometres of fine white sand and crystal clear waters so transparent they look like a swimming pool. The sea remains shallow for quite a distance, making it ideal for children and perfect for relaxing swims.
  • The seafront promenade: kilometres of flat walkway lined with palm trees. Perfect for cycling, jogging or enjoying a sunset stroll with the sea breeze and lively terraces all around.
  • The natural area of Punta de n’Amer: at the end of the beach you’ll find this protected and untouched peninsula. A beautiful landscape of dunes and pine forests, ideal for a peaceful walk. In the centre stands Es Castillet, a 17th century defence tower with a charming bar where you can enjoy a drink overlooking the sea.
  • Great food without surprises: behind the beachfront, lively pedestrian streets are filled with places to eat. Avoid tourist traps with photo menus and head to local taverns or nearby villages such as Son Servera to try authentic frito mallorquín or a delicious ensaimada at reasonable prices.

Our recommendation: If you fancy exploring beyond the beach, the spectacular Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo are just 15 minutes away by car or bus. A perfect excursion to swap the sunshine for an underground world of lakes, lights and classical music.

Mallorca: sun, sea and unforgettable moments

Mallorca is one of the Mediterranean’s most beloved islands, combining turquoise coves, golden-sand beaches, scenic mountain landscapes, charming stone villages, and a vibrant cultural scene. Ideal for families and couples alike, the island invites you to slow down, explore, and enjoy every moment under the sun.

Make sure you visit:

  • Palma de Mallorca’s Old Town: A captivating mix of Gothic architecture, narrow lanes, elegant courtyards, and lively cafés perfect for an afternoon stroll.
  • La Seu Cathedral: The island’s most iconic monument, rising dramatically by the sea with stunning interiors and views.
  • Serra de Tramuntana: A UNESCO-listed mountain range offering breathtaking panoramas, charming viewpoints, and picturesque villages.
  • Valldemossa & Deià: Two of the most beautiful inland villages, known for their stone houses, artistic heritage, and peaceful Mediterranean atmosphere.
  • Cap de Formentor: A dramatic headland with unforgettable viewpoints overlooking cliffs, forests, and the sea.

Beaches we think you’ll like:

  • Cala Mondragó: A protected natural bay with shallow turquoise water, perfect for families.
  • Es Trenc: Often compared to Caribbean beaches thanks to its white sand and calm, clear sea.
  • Cala Llombards: A small cove surrounded by rocky cliffs and perfect for snorkeling.
  • Playa de Muro: A long sandy beach with gentle waves, ideal for children and long seaside walks.
  • Cala Agulla: A scenic beach framed by pine forests and natural dunes.

Family-friendly activities:

  • Palma Aquarium: A highlight for children, with huge tanks, interactive zones, and Mediterranean species.
  • Vintage train to Sóller: A charming wooden train crossing valleys and citrus groves, ideal for a relaxing family excursion.
  • Boat trip along the coast: Great for spotting hidden coves and enjoying the island from the water.
  • Cuevas del Drach: Fascinating underground caves with a large subterranean lake.
  • Easy hikes in the Tramuntana: Well-signposted routes suitable for beginners and families.

Make sure you try these local delicacies:

  • Ensaimada: Mallorca’s iconic sweet pastry, perfect for breakfast or a mid-afternoon treat.
  • Sobrassada: A soft, slightly spicy cured sausage traditionally spread on bread.
  • Tumbet: A local vegetable dish similar to ratatouille, full of Mediterranean flavours.
  • Arroz brut: A comforting, spiced rice dish prepared with meat and vegetables.
  • Fresh seafood: Especially local fish like “raor” or grilled sardines.

Make the most of your visit and go to ...

  • Sóller & Port de Sóller: A perfect day trip combining mountain scenery, orange groves, and a beautiful seaside promenade.
  • Alcúdia Old Town: A charming medieval walled town with cobbled streets, traditional markets, and Roman ruins nearby.
  • Cabrera National Park: Take a boat tour to this protected archipelago with untouched landscapes and crystal-clear waters.
  • Pollensa: Ideal for culture lovers, with its historic square, art galleries, and the iconic 365 Calvari Steps.
  • Port d’Andratx: A scenic harbour town perfect for a relaxing walk and waterfront dining.

The location is good, in front of the beach and from bars and stores. The hotel was clean
The restaurant: quantity and variety are not expected for a 4*, not even for a 2*!

9.4 Veronica Travelled with family September 2026 The area it's in has, on one side, the promenade with all the restaurants overlooking the sea and, on the other entrance, more shops — it's very good, there’s something for everyone. The staff are very friendly; I would particularly highlight the men and women working in the pool bars and in the evenings.
What I didn’t like so much was the variety of the food — I would have liked more variety in both dishes and desserts, it was very repetitive.

6 Alba Travelled with family September 2026 The hotel's food was quite good, and the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly, as was the cleaning staff.
The reception staff didn’t explain anything about how the hotel worked — we arrived, they did give us the wristbands for meals, and that was it. The room could easily fit three beds but they only put two and a cot when we told them the children slept with us and not in a cot; the nappy situation was awful because we had to leave them in the bathroom sink and it smelled really bad, and one day they didn’t even clean for us...

7.1 Patricia Travelled with family August 2026 The hotel is very well located, with shops right on the doorstep and next to the promenade and the beach….
The bad points. There’s no car park for the car, so it takes you a long time to find a space. The all-inclusive meal times are geared to foreigners — in Spain we never eat at those hours. The schedule is awful, with little flexibility so you don’t have time to see things around the island… and the all-inclusive drinks leave a lot to be desired.

6.6 Xavi Travelled with family August 2026 In our case, an apartment — very good location, good views, and the air conditioning worked well. The staff were fabulous. Good value for money.
They should improve a few things: worn mattresses, the living room lacks some comfort, and the microwave socket and extractor fan don’t work. The kitchen lacks utensils — for an apartment, if we had wanted to cook there wouldn’t have been even the basics.

9.1 Claudia Yamileth Travelled with family August 2026 We liked the food, the hotel's location and the very friendly staff.
There were two entrances to the hotel and only the main reception entrance had air conditioning; everywhere else had no air and it was horribly hot. In the bar area it was unbearable because it was so hot. They had air conditioners but the staff said they were broken — with these heatwaves a bit of air conditioning would have been appreciated. Fortunately there was air conditioning in the rooms.

8.3 Rubiel Travelled with family August 2026 The beachfront location is truly spectacular. I must say that since March, when I made the booking, I had been checking the reviews and almost cancelled, but that would have meant losing the flight tickets, so I went ahead. I read many positive reviews and many more negative ones, so I imagined I would have problems from the moment I arrived at reception, but I was wrong. Although check-in is stated as from 14:00, we arrived at 11:00 and I found the reception staff to be extremely courteous. They immediately welcomed us, gave a brief overview of the hotel services, the times, etc., and assigned us our room. It was very clean and everything was in order; it was on the fourth level, number 3406. Overall, and despite the reviews I had read, I would rate the service as fair to moderately good. You have to keep in mind that they are selling it as a 4-star but, conservatively, it really feels like a 3-star. The food isn’t as repetitive or as awful as I imagined; there is a variety for all tastes. Of course there can be complaints, but it satisfied me during the seven days I stayed. Notable is the friendliness of all the staff who happily go out of their way to help you and take their time with you. I was positively struck by how well they all get on — you can see the cheerfulness among them and a work atmosphere they enjoy, which shows in good service. Special mention must be made of the location facing the beach, with access to a spectacular seafront promenade linked to all kinds of services and shops.
The facilities need general improvement; those 4 stars are no longer justified. I repeat: I think it would be fine and even great as a 3-star, but not for 4. I would increase the frequency of room cleaning — I understand the hotel is full of guests but this needs to be improved. I was a bit surprised by the requirement to deposit €1 per glass to be served drinks (you get it back when you return the glass); that, in my view, doesn’t match the hotel’s star rating, although I should say that after 20:00 this rule no longer applies and you can order whatever you like without any deposit. I would change the breakfast, lunch and dinner times. They are set for people of other nationalities, not for Spaniards. I should clarify that I am Cuban and those service times suit my habits, but I understand that if the hotel is on Spanish soil it is most logical and patriotic for it to follow Spain’s norms and customs and for foreign guests to adapt.
