Destination

La Manga del Mar Menor is a unique coastal strip in the Region of Murcia that separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor lagoon. With over 20 kilometres of beaches on both sides, calm, warm waters and a wide range of leisure activities, it's the perfect destination for families, water sports enthusiasts and anyone looking for a sun-soaked holiday.

Top attractions:

  • Mar Menor Lagoon: Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon. Thanks to its calm, shallow waters, it is ideal for swimming, kayaking, sailing and other water sports.
  • Puerto Deportivo Tomás Maestre: The main marina, offering a variety of restaurants, bars, and boat excursions.
  • Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar: nearby salt flats and a natural park with walking trails and opportunities to spot flamingos.
  • The iconic Faro de Cabo de Palos lighthouse offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and is located at the southern end of La Manga.
  • The small islands of Isla del Barón and Isla Perdiguera are perfect for boat trips and snorkelling.

Best beaches in La Manga del Mar Menor:

  • Playa de Levante: Facing the Mediterranean with fine golden sand and slightly stronger waves — great for a refreshing swim.
  • Playa de Galúa: This wide, lively beach has beach bars (chiringuitos), water sports and excellent facilities.
  • Playa de la Cala del Pino: A small, sheltered cove with shallow waters, ideal for families with young children.
  • Playa Honda: Located at the southern end, this peaceful beach has warm, shallow waters and fewer crowds.

Family-friendly activities:

  • Water sports schools: There are numerous centres offering sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and kayaking for all levels.
  • Go-karting in La Manga: A fun and safe karting track for children and adults.
  • Aquopolis Torrevieja (nearby): A water park with slides and pools suitable for all the family.
  • Mini golf and amusement parks: Several small parks along the strip offer mini golf, bumper cars and family rides.
  • Boat excursions: Family-friendly boat tours around the Mar Menor and nearby islands.

Local Gastronomy:

  • Caldero del Mar Menor: The region’s signature rice and fish stew, rich in flavour and history.
  • Langostinos del Mar Menor: Locally caught prawns, considered a delicacy thanks to their sweet, tender flavour.
  • Mojama: Salt-cured tuna, often served as a tapa with almonds and olive oil.
  • Tapas bars offer the chance to sample local favourites such as michirones (spicy broad bean stew), grilled octopus and marineras (anchovies and Russian salad on breadsticks).
  • Murcian Wines: Try local wines from Jumilla, Yecla or Bullas to accompany your meal.

Nearby attractions:

  • Cabo de Palos: A charming fishing village with excellent diving spots and fresh seafood restaurants.
  • Cartagena: This historic port city boasts Roman ruins, museums and a beautiful harbour, and is just 30 minutes away.
  • Murcia City: The regional capital is known for its impressive cathedral, historic squares and vibrant tapas scene.
  • Calblanque Natural Park: Pristine, undeveloped beaches and hiking trails make this the perfect place for nature lovers seeking tranquillity.
  • Los Alcázares: Another resort town on the Mar Menor, offering more beaches, promenades and family-friendly activities.

6.6 Enrique July 2025 The professionalism and friendliness of the staff working at the hotel. They were great with our baby.
Limited and repetitive buffet. Elevator out of order many days, in addition to being small. Many details are missing to be polished because it is halfway through construction. The entertainment team in the first few days was...we almost have nothing left. I would add some daytime animation (entertainers) and a security person to maintain order.
Buffet escaso y repetitivo.

5.1 Inés June 2025 The employees are very friendly and attentive.
Los empleados muy simpáticos y atentos.
The hotel does not offer the services that appear on the website. There are no performances, no toilets at the pool, sometimes there are showers at the pool, there is no spa. The rooms are not soundproof, the elevators smell like a tobacco shop, the food is good but small in quantity. The snacks run out quickly and there are very few guests in the hotel. Therefore, it does not deserve 4 stars.

The regular food had little variety, and there were days when they cleaned the room at 4 in the afternoon, and with the all-inclusive a bit messy, there were things that according to the morning waiters were included, and if you went in the afternoon, the same did not apply.

8.3 Cristina Travelled with couple June 2025 The room was amazing and spacious. The food was very good, not much variety but very good quality. The pool was large and with different depths, so it was very comfortable and well distributed with people.
The room cleaning service is deplorable and slow, only one person for the entire hotel. The staff is scarce and one of the managers is rude to his employees, speaking to them disrespectfully and with superiority, he could see they needed help but only demanded more from them without collaborating at all (I don't know his name but he was a dark-skinned man around 40 years old). Something else I would like to point out is that it is not appropriate and does not give a good impression in a 4-star hotel that the workers at the pool bar and the bar/café above the pool constantly eat in front of the guests, but I empathize with them after seeing the hotel's management. I must emphasize, it is not comfortable at all on the pool loungers, loud music (I think the music genre is not appropriate at all, I understand it needs to vary but it's a real mess). The "lifeguard," if I can call him that, didn't stay in his work area for even a moment, he was either pouring drinks or changing the music with his phone, he even disappeared from there. I think there are many reasons I present for seriously considering not returning to that place, it has a lot to improve.

7.4 Monica Travelled with family June 2025 The staff is very friendly, the snack bar is the best, the pool Water Slides are still closed but we really liked the pool, the buffet has a different type of fish and meat cooked on the grill every day, they usually change it daily, although sometimes it repeats.
First line of the beach, it is facing the Mar Menor but in an area where you cannot swim, it would be considered 2nd line for the Mediterranean, there is no entertainment for either children or adults.
