Destination

Salou is located on the Costa Dorada in Catalonia. It is one of Spain's most popular beach destinations. Known for its golden sandy beaches, family-friendly attractions and lively atmosphere, Salou is perfect for travellers seeking relaxation, adventure or a mix of both. With its proximity to major attractions such as PortAventura World, Salou is an excellent destination for families, couples and groups of friends.

Top Attractions:

  • PortAventura World: One of Europe's top theme parks, PortAventura offers thrilling rides, live shows and themed areas such as Far West, Polynesia and Mediterranean. It also includes Ferrari Land, dedicated to adrenaline-pumping attractions and the history of Ferrari.
  • Salou Promenade (Paseo Jaume I): This picturesque seafront promenade is perfect for a leisurely stroll. It's lined with palm trees, fountains and sculptures, including a statue of King Jaume I. Enjoy the lively atmosphere with plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants.
  • Cap Salou: A quieter area with picturesque coves such as Cala Crancs and Cala Font, perfect for snorkelling, sunbathing or enjoying peaceful coastal views.
  • Font Lluminosa: A nightly spectacle of lights, music and water jets at the end of the promenade, perfect for families and couples.

Beaches and coastal beauty:

  • Llevant Beach: The main beach in Salou, with golden sands, calm waters and excellent facilities including sunbeds, beach bars and water sports. It's ideal for families.
  • Ponent Beach: Another family friendly beach with a relaxed atmosphere, located closer to Cambrils. Great for swimming and watching the sunset.
  • Cala Llenguadets: A smaller, quieter beach surrounded by cliffs, perfect for those seeking a more tranquil setting.
  • Camí de Ronda coastal path: A scenic walk along the coastline with stunning views of the Mediterranean and access to hidden coves.

Family friendly activities:

  • Aquopolis Costa Dorada: A water park in nearby La Pineda with waterslides, wave pools and dolphin shows, perfect for a fun family day out.
  • Bosc Aventura Salou: An adventure park with ziplines, climbing walls and mini golf, offering outdoor fun for children and adults alike.
  • Karting Salou: For families with older children, this go-kart track offers high-speed excitement in a safe and fun environment.

Local gastronomy:

  • Paella: Salou's coastal location means that paella with fresh seafood is a must. Many beachside restaurants serve excellent versions of this classic dish.
  • Fideuà: Similar to paella but made with pasta instead of rice, often served with fresh seafood and a squeeze of lemon.
  • Tapas bars: Explore the city's vibrant tapas scene and sample local specialities such as calamari, patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns).
  • Crema Catalana: A delicious dessert similar to crème brûlée, flavoured with citrus and cinnamon.
  • Cava: Pair your meal with a glass of Catalonia's sparkling wine for a refreshing touch.

Day Trips & Nearby Attractions:

  • Tarragona: Just 15 minutes away, this historic city has impressive Roman ruins, including an amphitheatre and aqueduct, and a charming old town.
  • Cambrils: A quieter fishing village with a lovely marina, excellent seafood restaurants and a more relaxed atmosphere than Salou.
  • Delta de l'Ebre Natural Park: A protected wetland area perfect for birdwatching, cycling and enjoying unique landscapes, just an hour's drive from Salou.
  • Montserrat: Visit this stunning mountain range and its famous monastery for breathtaking views and a spiritual experience.

Nightlife and entertainment:

  • House of Illusion: A family-friendly venue offering world-class magic shows and entertainment.
  • Beachfront bars: Enjoy cocktails at one of Salou's stylish beach bars, such as the Playa Larga Lounge Bar, which offers great views of the sunset.

7.7 Esther Travelled with family August 2025 Very well located, quiet area near beautiful coves. Good value for money (although the hotel is old).
The organization of the dining hall is not good, you have to wait in long lines to eat, it takes a long time to clear the tables and people gather, the dining hall is small. The food is not very varied. The walls of the rooms are paper-thin, you can hear everything.

2.3 Marina Travelled with family August 2025 Horrible, we didn't even stay for lunch.
It is the hotel where criminals go on holiday with their families. The first time I feel scared in a hotel. Horrible.
Horroroso.

7.4 Inmaculada Travelled with family August 2025 The all-you-can-eat buffet is very complete for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
"We should replace the bathtubs with showers. There is a risk of slipping. There are no handrails, no suction cup mat inside, and no floor mat when leaving the bathtub. On the other hand, noisy foreign tourists, with their feet on the chairs, with huge floaties in the pool."

5 Víctor Travelled with couple August 2025 Very very very old rooms, although very clean. Night shows are dreadful, fulfilling all the clichés of hotels from the 80s... Terrible food, no variety, raw, unimaginable concoctions to use up the ingredients, pitiful dessert, very low quality of the ingredients. The dining cooks and waiters are very friendly. The guests are very noisy, families with many children, young couples, seasonal foreign tourism... in short... a universe apart... However, the different professionals were kind and very attentive... being the only positive thing to highlight about the hotel... congratulations and thank you.

7.1 Montse Travelled with family August 2025 I had very low expectations because of all the reviews I had read about the hotel but I was pleasantly surprised overall. The food was quite decent, we didn't find many people and not a lot of variety but we have to remember that it is a 3-star hotel. The jacuzzis are a great idea to have them separated upstairs. Very peaceful.
Mucha tranquilidad
The reception, the girls... who are friendlier, they are facing the public...
