This Templar fortress was completed in 1307. It stands at the highest point of the rocky headland overlooking the town, 64 metres above sea level. Its style is Gothic and austere. Inside, you can discover where both the warrior monks and Pope Benedict XIII lived.
Around Peñíscola Castle, you can explore the artillery gardens, then wander through the town’s narrow, traditional streets, which are usually full of life, shops and picture-perfect corners. It’s a must-see in Castellón!

- Winter (from 16 October to Palm Sunday): 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
- Summer (from Palm Sunday to 15 October): 9:30 am to 21:30h.
- Closed on 1 and 6 January, 9 September, 9 October and 25 December.
- Advance booking: No booking is needed. You can visit whenever you like during opening hours.
- Tickets: You’ll receive your tickets at your accommodation’s reception. Please note to ask for them!
- Transport: Travel from your accommodation to the castle isn’t included in the offer, so you’ll need to make your own way there.
