Why this destination is a must-visit
Cala d'Or: The "Ibiza" of Mallorca
Picture a place where the green of pine trees blends with the turquoise blue of the sea and the pure white of Ibizan-style houses. Welcome to Cala d'Or, a magical corner in the southeast of the island, made for slowing down and enjoying.
- A necklace of coves: Not just one beach, but a chain of intimate inlets like Cala Esmeralda, Cala Gran or Cala Ferrera—calm waters that feel like natural swimming pools.
- Architecture with soul: Low-rise buildings and whitewashed façades create a bohemian yet elegant vibe found nowhere else on the island.
- Life & gastronomy: At sunset, the Marina becomes the heart of the action. Dine facing the yachts or stroll through pedestrian streets lined with stylish boutiques—the perfect way to end the day.
In Cala d'Or, time doesn’t pass, it’s savored. Ready to discover the Mediterranean’s best-kept secret?

Mallorca is an island made for exploring. Its coastline changes dramatically as you travel around it, from long sandy beaches and sweeping bays to tiny coves, fishing harbours and dramatic cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. And while its turquoise waters are certainly tempting in summer, Mallorca’s coastal scenery, seaside towns and panoramic routes make it a wonderful destination at almost any time of year.
Make sure you visit:
- The bays of Alcúdia and Pollença: discover the long sandy stretches of Playa de Muro and Alcúdia Beach, as well as the spectacular Formentor peninsula, where mountains and pine forests meet the Mediterranean.
- The northeast and east coast: explore areas such as Artà, Capdepera and Manacor, with beautiful spots including Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida and plenty of smaller coves dotted along the coastline.
- The southeast coast: one of Mallorca’s most picturesque stretches, home to Cala Mondragó, S’Amarador, Cala Llombards and the striking Caló des Moro. Don’t miss Cala Figuera either, a charming fishing harbour tucked into a narrow inlet.
- The south coast: visit Es Trenc, famous for its long stretch of pale sand, dunes and natural surroundings, and explore the coastline around Colònia de Sant Jordi.
- The Serra de Tramuntana coast: Mallorca at its most dramatic. Mountains plunge towards the Mediterranean, creating spectacular coastal landscapes around Sa Calobra, Cala Tuent and Cala Deià.
Beaches we think you’ll like:
- Playa de Muro: a long, sandy beach on the Bay of Alcúdia, particularly popular with families thanks to its shallow waters.
- Cala Mesquida: surrounded by dunes and Mediterranean vegetation, it has a much wilder feel than Mallorca’s larger resort beaches.
- Cala Mondragó and S’Amarador: two beautiful beaches within the Mondragó Natural Park, surrounded by pine trees and coastal scenery.
- Es Trenc: one of the island’s best-known beaches, with pale sand, clear water and a natural dune landscape.
- Cala Tuent: a quieter pebble beach surrounded by the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana – a completely different side of Mallorca.
Family-friendly activities:
- Take a scenic drive around the island, stopping at coastal viewpoints, lighthouses, beaches and small seaside towns along the way.
- Explore Mallorca’s promenades and harbours on foot and enjoy an easy walk with Mediterranean views.
- Head to Formentor or the Serra de Tramuntana for some of the island’s most impressive coastal scenery and viewpoints.
- When the weather is right, discover the coastline from the water with a boat trip, kayak or paddleboard.
- Pack your snorkel and explore Mallorca’s clear Mediterranean waters, particularly around its smaller coves and rocky stretches of coast.
Make sure you try these local delicacies:
- Pa amb oli: rustic Mallorcan bread served with tomato and olive oil, often accompanied by cheese or cured meats.
- Sobrasada: Mallorca’s famous soft, paprika-seasoned cured sausage.
- Tumbet: a traditional dish made with layers of vegetables such as aubergine, potato and peppers.
- Mallorcan ensaimada: the island’s iconic spiral-shaped pastry, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon treat.
Make the most of your visit and go to...
- Formentor Peninsula: follow one of Mallorca’s most scenic coastal routes, with dramatic viewpoints, pine-covered landscapes and the Mediterranean stretching out below.
- Cala Figuera: wander around this traditional fishing harbour and see boats and old fishermen’s houses lining its narrow inlets.
- Port de Sóller: enjoy the seaside atmosphere, stroll along the waterfront and admire the mountain scenery surrounding its natural harbour.
- Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis: experience one of Mallorca’s most spectacular coastal landscapes, where the rugged Serra de Tramuntana meets the sea.
