Why this destination is a must-visit
Mazarrón: hidden coves, calm beaches and landscapes that feel out of this world
With more than 35 kilometres of coastline, Mazarrón is one of those Mediterranean destinations where you can still find peaceful beaches, crystal-clear coves and authentic seaside charm without the crowds.
What you shouldn’t miss:
-
Las Gredas de Bolnuevo
One of the most surprising landscapes in the region. These huge rock formations sculpted by wind and water create an almost lunar scenery right next to the beach — and visiting them is completely free. -
Puerto de Mazarrón
The lively heart of the area. Its wide seafront promenade is perfect for sunset walks, enjoying an ice cream or having tapas on a terrace overlooking the fishing boats and the Mediterranean. -
Beaches and coves for every type of traveller
If you’re travelling with family, Playa de Bahía or Playa de la Reya are ideal thanks to their calm and shallow waters. Looking for something more natural? The coves heading towards Águilas, such as Percheles, offer a much wilder and more untouched setting. -
Mediterranean cuisine full of flavour
Mazarrón is especially known for its rice dishes, fresh seafood and local produce. Near the port you’ll find restaurants serving specialties such as arroz a banda or grilled sardines with excellent quality and very reasonable prices.
Our recommendation:
Head up to the viewpoint overlooking Puerto de Mazarrón for one of the best panoramic views of the coastline and the perfect holiday photo spot.

Cartagena: Roman heritage, seafaring charm and unforgettable flavours
Founded by the Carthaginians and later transformed by the Romans, Cartagena is one of Spain’s most fascinating historic cities. Ancient monuments, a vibrant waterfront and a rich culinary tradition make it a destination full of character.
What you shouldn't miss:
- The Roman Theatre: Cartagena's greatest treasure. Hidden beneath the city for centuries and only rediscovered in 1988, it is one of the most impressive Roman theatres in Spain. Its museum and monumental architecture are truly spectacular.
- The Roman Forum District: One of the largest urban archaeological sites in the country. Walk along ancient Roman streets, visit historic baths and discover the sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis.
- The Port and the Peral Submarine: The waterfront promenade is perfect for a stroll. Here you can see the original prototype of the electric submarine designed by Cartagena-born inventor Isaac Peral in 1888, a landmark in engineering history.
- Concepción Castle and its views: Take the panoramic lift to reach this hilltop fortress. From the top, you'll enjoy incredible views over the harbour, the historic centre and the hills that have protected Cartagena for centuries.
Our recommendation
Don't leave without trying a traditional Asian Coffee, Cartagena's signature drink. Made with coffee, condensed milk, brandy, Licor 43, cinnamon and lemon peel, it's a local speciality with plenty of character.
