Surrounded by the peaceful Pinhal de Mira and just minutes from the iconic Praia de Mira, Hotel Miravillas is the perfect retreat for combining beach days, nature and rest on Portugal’s central coast.

This 4-star hotel stands out for its minimalist design inspired by the four elements of nature, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Its rooms and suites, some with spacious private terraces, invite you to switch off in total comfort.

The experience is completed with an outdoor pool, tennis courts, running trails and services designed for cyclists and sports lovers. Plus, Bar da Terra serves breakfasts, snacks and cocktails in a bright, relaxed setting.

Travellers especially love the peaceful surroundings, spacious facilities and excellent location for discovering Aveiro, Coimbra or Figueira da Foz. A place made for reconnecting with calm and enjoying Portugal at a slower pace.

Why this destination is a must-visit

Praia de Mira, where the Atlantic becomes legend

Environmental excellence

  • Praia de Mira holds a unique world record, it is the only beach on the planet to have received the Blue Flag every year since its creation in 1987. This milestone guarantees visitors top level water quality, safety and cleaning services, maintained for almost four decades.

The legacy of Arte Xávega

  • The soul of this town is tied to artisanal fishing. Arte Xávega is an ancestral technique where boats, with their distinctive raised bow, cast their nets into the sea before they are pulled back onto the sand. In the past, teams of oxen were used for this task, today tractors do the work, but the ritual of hauling in the gear and selling fresh fish directly on the shore remains a fascinating cultural spectacle.

A unique setting, sea and lagoon

  • The landscape offers a striking contrast. To the west, the Atlantic Ocean reveals its dunes and waves, perfect for surfing. Just a few metres inland lies the Barrinha, a freshwater lagoon surrounded by greenery. This setting lets you enjoy the power of the sea and the calm of the lagoon, with activities such as paddle sports or hiking, all in one place.

Wooden architecture

  • The typical postcard scene is completed by the palheiros, old wooden buildings where fishermen once stored their nets. Traditionally painted in colourful stripes, today they are the visual symbol of the area, together with the picturesque Chapel of Our Lady of the Conception.

The Coast of Coimbra is one of Portugal’s hidden gems, perfect for travellers looking to combine endless Atlantic beaches, charming towns, and authentic Portuguese culture. This beautiful stretch of coastline offers a more relaxed atmosphere than the country’s bigger tourist hotspots, making it ideal for families and couples wanting to unwind while still having plenty to explore nearby.

Make sure you visit:

  • The historic city of Coimbra, home to one of Europe’s oldest universities and full of traditional Portuguese charm.
  • Aveiro, often called the “Venice of Portugal”, famous for its colourful moliceiro boats and picturesque canals.
  • Costa Nova, well known for its iconic striped beach houses overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Praia de Mira, a peaceful seaside town perfect for long walks by the beach.
  • The scenic Atlantic coastline, with its huge sandy beaches and stunning sunsets.

Beaches we think you’ll like:

  • Praia de Mira: wide, peaceful and ideal for relaxing by the ocean.
  • Praia da Tocha: family-friendly and surrounded by beautiful wooden walkways.
  • Praia da Barra: known for its lively atmosphere and impressive lighthouse.
  • Praia de Quiaios: backed by dunes and natural landscapes.
  • Costa Nova Beach: perfect for combining beach time with great local food.

Family-friendly activities:

  • Take a boat trip through Aveiro’s canals aboard a traditional moliceiro.
  • Walk along the wooden boardwalks through the dunes and coastal pine forests.
  • Spend a relaxing beach day enjoying the calm atmosphere and fresh Atlantic air.
  • Explore Coimbra’s old town and discover its fascinating university buildings.
  • Enjoy outdoor dining by the sea while tasting freshly caught seafood.

Make sure you try these local delicacies:

  • Traditional Portuguese codfish dishes cooked in many different ways.
  • Fresh grilled sardines straight from the Atlantic.
  • Seafood rice dishes full of rich coastal flavours.
  • Pastéis de nata, Portugal’s famous custard tarts.
  • Local cheeses and regional Portuguese wines.

Make the most of your visit and go to...

  • Figueira da Foz: a lively coastal town with one of Portugal’s widest urban beaches.
  • Buçaco Forest: a magical natural area with stunning walking trails and a fairytale-like palace.
  • Aveiro: perfect for a day trip filled with canals, colourful boats and excellent gastronomy.
  • Coimbra: ideal for soaking up history, culture and authentic Portuguese atmosphere.

Zona tranquila, personal amable, habitaciones amplias.
