Mónica Isabel Beach Club: Disconnecting has never been easier

Forget the alarm clock and let the Atlantic do the dirty work for you. At Monica Isabel Beach Club 3, holidays are about what really matters: sun, bare feet and zero drama.

Forget about stuffy hotels; here we go for a fresh and functional style where the only important thing is that you feel at home, but with views that you would want in your living room.

You are so close to Praia do Forte de São João that going from the bed to the sand is almost a national sport, and if you get hungry, our buffet and all-inclusive plan are ready so you only have to worry about choosing dessert.

Best of all, you have the center of Albufeira just a short walk away for when you feel like a bit of ambiance, shopping or a different kind of dinner, knowing that your giant apartment is waiting for you to really relax.

It is that place with "rollazo", an unbeatable location and a price that allows you to smile even before arriving.

If you are looking for a refuge in front of the ocean where the stress stays at the door, this is your place. Warning: you will be hooked and you will want to repeat!

Why this destination is a must-visit

Albufeira Curiosities

Albufeira is far more than sun and beach. Today it shines as the tourism epicenter of Portugal’s Algarve, yet beneath its vibrant energy lies a town filled with history, hidden corners, and unforgettable contrasts.

  • A Name with Arabic Heritage
The name “Albufeira” derives from the Arabic Al-buhera, meaning “castle of the sea” or “small lagoon.” Fortified by the Moors in the 8th century, its legacy still echoes through the narrow, labyrinth-like streets of the Old Town — a whitewashed maze rich in character.

  • The Tunnel That Leads to Paradise
From the historic center, step through a 20-meter pedestrian tunnel carved directly into the rock to reach Praia do Peneco. It’s not just access to the beach — it’s a dramatic, photogenic entrance to the Atlantic that feels like a cinematic reveal.

  • An Elevator with a View
The Elevador do Peneco connects the cliff to the beach, offering far more than convenience. Glide down while enjoying one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic — no steep stair climb required.

  • The Earthquake That Changed Everything In 1755, the Great Earthquake reshaped much of Portugal — and Albufeira was deeply affected. A powerful tidal wave destroyed most of the city walls and castle. The Church of Santa Ana remains one of the few structures that partially survived, blending architectural styles from before and after the catastrophe.

  • From Sardines to Tourism
Until the 1960s, Albufeira was a humble fishing village. Its rise to become the “capital of tourism” was remarkably fast. Yet at Praia dos Pescadores, colorful fishing boats still rest on the sand, preserving the authentic soul of its maritime past.

  • The “Strip”
In Areias de São João, neon lights and lively bars create an atmosphere reminiscent of Las Vegas. A bold and electric contrast to the traditional white village — and proof that Albufeira knows how to surprise.

The Algarve is Portugal’s sun-drenched southern coastline, famous for its golden cliffs, hidden coves and charming whitewashed towns. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s a fantastic choice for families and couples looking for a mix of beach relaxation, scenic landscapes and authentic Portuguese flavour. Whether you prefer lively resorts or peaceful fishing villages, the Algarve offers something for everyone.

Make sure you visit:

  • The spectacular cliffs of Praia da Marinha, one of Europe’s most photographed beaches.
  • The famous Benagil Cave, accessible by kayak or boat.
  • The historic old town of Lagos, with its cobbled streets and city walls.
  • The dramatic rock formations at Ponta da Piedade.
  • Tavira, a charming town with traditional architecture and a relaxed atmosphere.

Beaches we think you’ll like:

  • Praia da Rocha (Portimão), wide, lively and ideal for families.
  • Praia do Barril (Tavira Island), known for its peaceful setting.
  • Meia Praia (Lagos), long and perfect for water sports.
  • Praia da Falésia (Albufeira), backed by striking red cliffs.
  • Praia de Odeceixe, unique for its beach and river combination.

Family-friendly activities:

  • Take a boat tour along the coast to explore caves and hidden beaches.
  • Visit Zoomarine in Albufeira for a fun-filled day with marine shows and pools.
  • Enjoy dolphin watching excursions from Albufeira or Lagos.
  • Try paddleboarding or kayaking in the calm morning waters.
  • Explore the Ria Formosa Natural Park by bike or on foot.

Make sure you try these local delicacies:

  • Cataplana – a traditional seafood stew cooked in a copper pot.
  • Grilled sardines, especially popular in summer.
  • Piri-piri chicken, full of flavour and spice.
  • Fresh octopus salad.
  • Dom Rodrigo, a sweet almond-based dessert typical of the region.

Make the most of your visit and go to...

  • Silves (30–40 min), a historic town dominated by its impressive red castle.
  • Sagres (1h), known for its wild scenery and dramatic Atlantic views.
  • Serra de Monchique (1h), perfect for panoramic views and cooler mountain air.
  • Seville (2h 30 min), ideal for a cultural day trip into Spain.
