Known as the “Corte de los Pinares,” Vinuesa is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain (and it’s not just us saying it — it holds the official title). One of the area’s most nostalgic stories. Beneath the waters of the Cuerda del Pozo Reservoir rest the remains of the village of La Muedra.

• “La Pinochada”: Women Take the Lead

Every August, during the festivities of the Virgen del Pino and San Roque, Vinuesa celebrates a medieval rite known as La Pinochada.

It commemorates a local victory over a neighboring village for the possession of an image of the Virgin.

The highlight? Women, dressed as “piñorras,” gently tap the men with pine branches (“pinochos”) while declaring, “From today in a year!” A tradition that proudly symbolizes the key role of women in defending the territory.
