It is also a strategic point for hiking, cycling or skiing, with easy access to the French side through the nearby tunnel.

Why this destination is a must-visit
In the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, where the asphalt surrenders to the verticality of the mountains, rises Bielsa. This village of stone and slate is the last frontier before France and the master key to the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. Entering Bielsa is like crossing a threshold where time stands still between the roar of the Cinca and Barrosa rivers, offering a wild refuge for those seeking the mountain in its purest and most authentic state.
Here we bring you some curiosities of this area that we believe will fascinate you:
1. The wildest Carnival
It is one of the oldest in Spain. Its protagonists, the Trangas (half-man, half-animal beings with horns and skins), roam the town in a unique pagan rite that seems frozen in time.
2. The Pineta Valley
An impressive glacial valley in the shape of a perfect "U". Its vertical walls of more than 1,000 metres and direct views of the Monte Perdido Glacier offer one of the most powerful landscapes of the Pyrenees.
3. The heroic "Bolsa de Bielsa".
During the Civil War, the village staged a legendary resistance before thousands of people crossed to France through the high peaks. Today, its museum tells this story of courage and survival.
4. Last refuge of the Bearded Vulture
Bielsa is one of the best places in Europe to see the Bearded Vulture. With a wingspan of almost 3 metres, watching this "giant" glide among the peaks is a magical experience for any traveller.
5. Gateway to two worlds
Thanks to the Bielsa-Aragnouet tunnel, the village is the perfect link between the Aragonese and French Pyrenees. In a few minutes you pass from the Spanish forests to the lakes and ski resorts of the French side.
What to do in Bielsa?
If you like walking, here you will find incredible routes such as the Pineta Valley, one of the most beautiful in the Pyrenees, or simple trails along the Cinca River. In addition, there are trails for all levels, ideal to enjoy at your own pace among waterfalls, forests and unique viewpoints.
In the surroundings, you can not miss charming villages such as Parzán or Plan, perfect for a quiet walk and discover the essence of the Pyrenees. Its streets and landscapes invite you to stop, breathe and enjoy unhurriedly.
And if we talk about gastronomy, it is another great attraction: you can taste traditional dishes such as migas aragonesas, olla tensina or roast lamb. There are also homemade sausages, local cheeses and typical sweets such as cakes or crespillos, perfect to put the finishing touch.
