Why this destination is a must-visit

Menorca is one of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, located to the north-east of Mallorca. Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the island is famous for its crystal clear waters, hidden coves, whitewashed villages and relaxed atmosphere. Less developed than its sister islands, Menorca is ideal for families, nature lovers and travellers seeking peace and authenticity.

Make sure you visit:

  • Ciutadella de Menorca: The former capital of the island, with narrow streets, Gothic churches and a lovely harbour, perfect for evening strolls.
  • Mahon (Maó): The current capital, known for its natural harbour (one of the largest in the world), Georgian buildings and local markets.
  • Naveta des Tudons: A well-preserved prehistoric burial site dating back over 3,000 years.
  • Monte Toro: The highest point on the island, with panoramic views and a peaceful sanctuary at the top.
  • Fort Marlborough: An 18th century fort built by the British into the cliffs near the port of Mahón.

Beaches we think you'll like:

  • Cala en Porter: Sheltered cove with calm waters and easy access, excellent for young children.
  • Cala Macarella & Cala Macarelleta: Two of Menorca's most iconic beaches, with turquoise waters, fine white sand and dramatic cliffs.
  • Cala Mitjana: Surrounded by pine forests, this beach is perfect for a relaxing day in a natural setting.
  • Cala Galdana: A family-friendly beach with shallow waters and nearby restaurants and facilities.
  • Son Bou beach: The longest beach on the island, ideal for sunbathing, water sports and long walks along the shore.
  • Cala Pregonda: A stunning beach with red-golden sand and crystal-clear waters, ideal for snorkelling.

Make sure you try these local delicacies:

  • Caldereta de langosta: Lobster stew, particularly famous in the town of Fornells.
  • Queso de Mahón: A cheese with a Denomination of Origin, ranging from soft to mature, often served with olive oil and paprika.
  • Oliaigua: A traditional vegetable soup, originally eaten by peasants and often served cold.
  • Gin Xoriguer: Menorca's signature gin, best enjoyed with lemon soda in the popular "pomada" drink.

Make the most of your visit and go to ...

  • Fornells: A charming fishing village famous for its lobster stew and sea excursions.
  • Binibeca Vell: A picturesque village of white houses and narrow streets, ideal for photography and seafood lunches.
  • Cova d'en Xoroi: A natural cave bar built into a cliff with stunning sunset views over the sea.
  • Es Grau and S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park: An area of protected wetlands perfect for birdwatching, kayaking and easy walks.
  • Alaior: A quiet inland town known for its cheese production and craft markets.
