  • Praza do Obradoiro: the city’s central square, surrounded by impressive buildings such as the Hostal dos Reis Católicos and the Pazo de Raxoi, home to the University of Santiago de Compostela.
  • The Museo do Pobo Galego is housed in the former Convent of San Domingos and explores Galician culture, traditions and architecture.
  • The Monastery of San Martín Pinario: One of Spain’s largest and most impressive monasteries, it is located near the cathedral.
  • Parque da Alameda: A peaceful park offering panoramic views of the old town and cathedral towers.

  • Guided Tours with Legends: Many walking tours include entertaining stories and legends, which are ideal for children.
  • The nearby Aquarium Finisterrae in A Coruña: Located about an hour’s drive away, it offers interactive marine exhibits and panoramic ocean views.

Local gastronomy:

  • Pulpo a la Gallega: Octopus cooked with paprika, olive oil and sea salt, and typically presented on a wooden platter.
  • Empanada Gallega: A savoury pie filled with tuna, meat or vegetables, ideal for picnics or quick lunches.
  • Tarta de Santiago: An almond cake dusted with icing sugar and bearing the cross of Saint James, it is simple yet iconic.
  • Zamburiñas and navajas: Delicious small scallops and razor clams, best enjoyed grilled.
