Destination

La Manga del Mar Menor is a unique coastal strip in the Region of Murcia that separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor lagoon. With over 20 kilometres of beaches on both sides, calm, warm waters and a wide range of leisure activities, it's the perfect destination for families, water sports enthusiasts and anyone looking for a sun-soaked holiday.

Top attractions:

  • Mar Menor Lagoon: Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon. Thanks to its calm, shallow waters, it is ideal for swimming, kayaking, sailing and other water sports.
  • Puerto Deportivo Tomás Maestre: The main marina, offering a variety of restaurants, bars, and boat excursions.
  • Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar: nearby salt flats and a natural park with walking trails and opportunities to spot flamingos.
  • The iconic Faro de Cabo de Palos lighthouse offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and is located at the southern end of La Manga.
  • The small islands of Isla del Barón and Isla Perdiguera are perfect for boat trips and snorkelling.

Best beaches in La Manga del Mar Menor:

  • Playa de Levante: Facing the Mediterranean with fine golden sand and slightly stronger waves — great for a refreshing swim.
  • Playa de Galúa: This wide, lively beach has beach bars (chiringuitos), water sports and excellent facilities.
  • Playa de la Cala del Pino: A small, sheltered cove with shallow waters, ideal for families with young children.
  • Playa Honda: Located at the southern end, this peaceful beach has warm, shallow waters and fewer crowds.

Family-friendly activities:

  • Water sports schools: There are numerous centres offering sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and kayaking for all levels.
  • Go-karting in La Manga: A fun and safe karting track for children and adults.
  • Aquopolis Torrevieja (nearby): A water park with slides and pools suitable for all the family.
  • Mini golf and amusement parks: Several small parks along the strip offer mini golf, bumper cars and family rides.
  • Boat excursions: Family-friendly boat tours around the Mar Menor and nearby islands.

Local Gastronomy:

  • Caldero del Mar Menor: The region’s signature rice and fish stew, rich in flavour and history.
  • Langostinos del Mar Menor: Locally caught prawns, considered a delicacy thanks to their sweet, tender flavour.
  • Mojama: Salt-cured tuna, often served as a tapa with almonds and olive oil.
  • Tapas bars offer the chance to sample local favourites such as michirones (spicy broad bean stew), grilled octopus and marineras (anchovies and Russian salad on breadsticks).
  • Murcian Wines: Try local wines from Jumilla, Yecla or Bullas to accompany your meal.

Nearby attractions:

  • Cabo de Palos: A charming fishing village with excellent diving spots and fresh seafood restaurants.
  • Cartagena: This historic port city boasts Roman ruins, museums and a beautiful harbour, and is just 30 minutes away.
  • Murcia City: The regional capital is known for its impressive cathedral, historic squares and vibrant tapas scene.
  • Calblanque Natural Park: Pristine, undeveloped beaches and hiking trails make this the perfect place for nature lovers seeking tranquillity.
  • Los Alcázares: Another resort town on the Mar Menor, offering more beaches, promenades and family-friendly activities.

9.7 Marian Travelled with couple July 2025 The problem as always was that only one elevator was working.

4.7 JAVI Travelled with couple July 2025 Lack of cleanliness in main areas, you ask for something that is stated in the all-inclusive menu and they tell you it's finished. There is no cleaning in the pool and terrace area, nor in the elevators. To access the pool area, there are only stairs. It doesn't deserve to have four stars. I wouldn't repeat.
No merece tener cuatro estrellas. No repetiría.

3.9 Iván Travelled with family July 2025 The best thing I have had at this hotel is the people I have met there and the staff working there, except for the director who ignored everything and the next manager who, despite seeing all the problems there were, did not want to solve anything. Eli was the best, attentive at all times, Gema, Vanesa the cook, Natalia, Aldo the chef.
From the all-inclusive there was almost nothing on the second day we ran out of water bottles that were replenished 4 days later and ran out the next day, out of the 7 days of stay there was only piña colada for a day and a half, the electricity went out every so often, the elevators were broken and there were endless lines to go up or down, the cleanliness was quite poor in main areas, the pool bathrooms were pitiful, for the Spaniards everything was prohibitions due to the hotel rules that others could break and they were not told anything because they did not want to have problems with them, the bathroom in the room would flood for most of us when showering, in the dining room there was little variety, the manager ignored everything we told him because you pay for an all-inclusive and half of the things are not there, and thank goodness the girls were super friendly because that hotel does not deserve the people who work there and having a manager who ignores everything, is not capable of apologizing, or solving any problems in two days more than 10 complaint forms. Also, on Thursday a storm hit and part of the ceiling of a room collapsed, forcing a family with 3 young children to change rooms at 4 in the morning, and many rooms were flooded. The air conditioning does not work properly, it turns on when it wants to. If it weren't for the fact that the people I met were very nice, I would never go back to that hotel. You pay for an all-inclusive where they don't have anything. At 7:10 pm they kick you out of the pool even though it says it's open until 7:30 pm. Dinner is at 9:00 pm and by then there is nothing left, no entertainment, no music, no club for kids, no mini disco, nothing at all, and if you go out around there's only a souvenir shop. There were days when by 10:00 pm you were already in your room.

2.3 Gretel Travelled with family July 2025 The friendships we have made
Las amistades que hemos hecho
Everything should improve, except for the waiters who are undoubtedly the best part of the hotel for everything they have to endure and support.

6.6 Santiago Travelled with couple July 2025 The food was very good, the staff very friendly and kind. Very quiet and no queues at all (neither in the dining room, nor at the pool bar, nor any problem with sunbeds). The hotel is quite new.
Very friendly staff but with favoritism (some people were allowed to do things while others were not, we are all equal who pay all the same) Hotel still under construction... Null daytime entertainment for both adults and children.

9.7 Isabel Travelled with couple July 2025 The hotel reopened recently and they are gradually improving, but I see a very young and eager team that wants you to be well and enjoy your stay.
To continue improving the cleanliness of main areas, elevators, etc.
