My stay at the Cortijo de Matalascañas was rather disappointing. As soon as we arrived we had to request a room change because of the condition it was in. We found bugs in the rooms and the standard of cleanliness was below expectations. The food was also not up to par, with little variety and quite poor quality. The pool, besides being rather small for the number of guests, was dirty, so it was unpleasant to use. The bar charged excessive prices for what it offered and the service was very slow, with long waits to be served. Additionally, the accommodation is quite far from the beach, so a car is necessary. Overall, I found the value for money poor and I would not repeat the experience.
Mi experiencia en el cortijo de Matalascañas fue bastante decepcionante. Nada más llegar tuvimos que pedir un cambio de habitación por el estado en el que se encontraba. En las habitaciones encontramos bichos y la sensación de limpieza no era la esperada. La comida tampoco estuvo a la altura, con poca variedad y una calidad bastante mejorable. La piscina, además de ser bastante pequeña para la cantidad de huéspedes, estaba llena de suciedad, por lo que no resultaba agradable utilizarla. El bar tenía precios excesivos para lo que ofrecía y el servicio era muy lento, con largas esperas para ser atendidos. Además, el alojamiento está bastante lejos de la playa, por lo que es necesario desplazarse en coche. En general, la relación calidad-precio me pareció mala y no repetiría la experiencia.

Las bebidas ya no son botellines o latas, son polvos de la máquina de refill típica de los Burguer Kings.
Y la comida ya, me quita hasta las ganas de seguir escribiendo. Miren que me estoy tomando la molestia de escribir tanto solo por si alguien lo lee y decide pensárselo mejor porque ha sido un auténtico fracaso.

For dessert, melon and plums (which I’m glad about because they’re seasonal fruit) but come on, every day… I don’t know, a bit of watermelon for example, which is also cheap now, would have been nice. Not a single decent dessert, no yoghurts, nothing; there was nothing of that.
Distance: it’s 2 km from the beach. Last year a van picked you up at the hotel door and took you around all day. This year we asked and were told they no longer had that service because the company had changed. So 20 minutes walking with chairs, parasols and the rest, in 40°C.
The pool is tiny. You look at the photo and it seems like the typical Barceló/Ilunion one, you see it there and the disappointment is huge.
The hotel is very old, badly in need of a renovation. The rooms smell strongly of damp.
Anyway, we’ve returned because last year wasn’t bad and it had those things I’ve mentioned that made it reasonable for value for money: but if you remove the transport to the beach, the all-inclusive isn’t all day any more, the food has lost a huge amount of quality, the powdered drinks… then the conclusion is clear: we won’t be back.
La comida lo peor sin duda. Buffet de muy baja calidad: todos los días lo mismo. Muy poca variedad, comida fría, algunas cosas si se acababan ya no las reponían ( nos pasó con las pizzas).
Te dabas cuenta que la comida de la cena era la misma que la del mediodía pero con un mínimo cambio, y al día siguiente igual. Olvídate de jamón, aguacate, o cosas así para desayunar: chopped, queso lonchas, huevos revueltos y bollería.
La calidad además muy baja: mira que me encanta comer y que he comido, pero estaba todo…la paella insípida, el arroz típico 3 delicias, la bolognesa era la salsa comprada que sabía súper industrial, y así todo.
El cuenco de gazpacho,y la bandeja de ensaladilla rusa allí seguirán porque hemos estado de viernes a Lunes y todos los días estaban allí y no veías que la gente lo cogiera vaya…
De postre, melón y ciruelas ( me alegro porque es fruta de temporada) pero hombre todos los días…no se, un poco de Sandía por ejemplo, que también están ahora baratas también hubiera estado bien. Ni un postre en condiciones, ni yogures, ni nada, de eso no había nada.
Distancia: está a 2km de la playa. El año pasado te recogía una furgo en la puerta del hotel y te llevaba y te traía todo el día. Este año preguntamos y nos dijeron que no tenían ya ese servicio porque había cambiado la empresa. Así que 20 minutazos andando con las sillas,sombrillas y demás, a 40º.
La piscina es minúscula. Ves la foto y parece la típica de los Barceló, Ilunion, o algo así, y la ves allí y el chasco es monumental.
El hotel está muy viejo, necesita una reforma urgente. Las habitaciones huelen a humedad muchísimo.
En fin, hemos repetido porque el año pasado no estuvo mal y tenía esas cosas que he comentado que lo hacían bien en relación calidad precio: pero si le quitas el transporte a la playa, el todo incluido ya no es todo el día, la comida ha perdido una barbaridad de calidad, la bebida de polvos…pues tiene una conclusión clara: no volveremos.

La primera noche nos dieron una en planta baja (la 49) que cuando apagamos la luz empezaron a salir cucarachas por todas partes, tras las quejas ( no podíamos dormir y menos la niña) nos cambiaron a la 237, la cual solo tenía hormigas, pero que aunque estaba en la segunda planta había siempre insoportable holor a cañerías/desagües. Dado lo lleno del hotel aguantamos ahí el resto de noches.
Una cosa tengo clara volvere nunca a ese hotel.
