Calella is far more than a typical seaside destination. Known as the “Tourist Capital of the Costa del Maresme”, this vibrant coastal town has a strong personality and a fascinating history that makes it truly unique.

Here are a few curiosities that make Calella such a special place:

  • The Lighthouse: more than a guide for ships The Calella Lighthouse is the city’s most iconic landmark. It was inaugurated in 1859 and its light originally ran on olive oil. Today it is still active, but it also houses an interpretation centre where visitors can discover how optical communications once worked along the coast.

  • Why are locals called “Llops” (Wolves)? The people of Calella are affectionately known as llops (wolves). According to local legend, many years ago a very large, shaggy dog frightened the townspeople, who believed it was a wolf. After gathering the courage to hunt it down, they discovered it was simply a lost dog. The nickname stayed forever as a playful local joke.

  • A refuge from the Civil War Beneath Dalmau Park lies the Dalmau Park Air-Raid Shelter, built by local residents in 1937 to protect themselves from bombings during the Spanish Civil War. It is one of the best-preserved shelters in the area and can be visited today, offering a powerful glimpse into the city’s living history.

  • The “Church Street” This is the commercial heart of the city. Despite modern changes, it has kept its historic layout and remains one of the longest and most lively pedestrian streets in the region, linking the old town with the more tourist-oriented areas.

  • A host for international events Calella is not just a summer destination. The town is also famous for hosting major events throughout the year, including:

    • Ironman Barcelona, with Calella as the official host town of this demanding triathlon.
    • Aplec de la Sardana, one of the oldest and largest Sardana gatherings in Catalonia, held in Dalmau Park.
    • Calella Film Festival, a festival dedicated to independent cinema and emerging talent.

  • Extra highlight: Manuel Puigvert Promenade This beautiful seafront promenade is a wonderful example of 19th-century urban design. With its rows of century-old plane trees and elegant wrought-iron railings, it is the perfect place to see how bourgeois architecture once blended with the town’s maritime life.

  • The maximum room occupancy is 4 people + a baby. Please note: The accommodation does not admit a fifth person in the same room, neither adults nor children. 

The single occupancy surcharge is approximately 10%, already applied to the prices displayed during the booking process.

Pet Policy

This accommodation allows pets with the following conditions:
  • Pets are allowed in the hotel: from May 22 to September 12, 2026. Outside these dates the hotel does not accept pets.
  • Price: from 01/07 to 31/08 16 € per night and pet. For the rest of the dates the price per night and pet is 13 €.
  • Maximum weight: No weight limit!
  • Please let the accommodation know in advance that you will be travelling with a pet. A maximum of one pet can sleep in each room. Pets are only allowed in the room, except when the cleaning staff is doing their chores. Pets are not allowed in the main areas (reception, dining room, swimming pool, lounge, etc.), only to access the room or to leave the hotel, and must be leashed. The day of check-out you must leave the hotel at 10:00h because pets are not allowed in the main areas.
  • The pet may not use the bathroom or the bathtub/shower to relieve itself; and it is not allowed to use hotel towels or sheets for grooming. The pet is not allowed to climb on the beds. In case of an accident with another animal or a person, the hotel will not be held responsible for legal purposes.
Important Information: Once you've completed your booking, please send us a message via the contact section to inform us that you will be travelling with your pet. This allows us to notify the accommodation in advance, ensuring everything is prepared for your arrival.

Tourism tax

The tourism tax isn't included in the booking price, as it's mandatory to pay this tax directly at the hotel reception. Children under the age of 16 are exempt from this tax.

Very good 7.4 Estefanía Travelled with family July 2026 I stayed at the hotel with my mother and two very young children. The pool facilities were perfect for them and well maintained; they had a great time. The buffet was adequate at all meals and we all enjoyed it — there was variety and they kept it replenished. We stayed 2 days and 1 night. We were given an unrefurbished room; the bathroom could have been better looked after, but it functioned perfectly. The air conditioning worked flawlessly and the room was cool at all times. We only used the room to hang wet clothes, but it has a good terrace with a table and chairs. Overall fine, simple and modest, reasonable for the price. Beach less than 10 minutes away, children's leisure areas (inflatables, bowling alley, ice-cream shops) nearby. I will probably stay for an extra night this summer, just for the children’s enjoyment, bringing a small preventive cleaning kit.

El aire acondicionado iba a la perfección y la habitación estaba fresca en todo momento. No la usamos más que para tender ropa mojada pero dispone de una buena terraza con mesa y sillas. En general bien, sencillo y humilde, razonable para el precio. Playa a menos 10min, zonas de ocio infantil (inflables, bolera, heladerías) cercanas. Probablemente repita una noche más este verano, tan solo por el disfrute de los niños, llevando un pequeño kit de limpieza preventiva.
Because of the reviews I was really cautious about where I was taking my family: nothing to worry about. There are, however, some improvements to be made: the pool-area toilets were well designed, but there were many drain flies around the toilets and the shower area was leaking, leaving the bathroom floors wet — this could be dangerous and cause slipping. The evening buffet was quite busy; we arrived at 8pm and had to wait 20 minutes to get in, but after that everything was fine. It would be important for them to hire security staff: after all, it is an affordable hotel that attracts many respectable families wanting to enjoy their stay — we met several such families — but there were also many inconsiderate guests who let their children run in the corridors at night or keep shouting. This isn’t a matter of cultural differences, it’s simply bad manners. The anti-social behaviour of some guests creates unpleasant episodes, and although the hotel isn’t soundproofed, this could be addressed by having security who intervene and patrol the complex 24 hours a day. They should walk the corridors and enforce quiet hours. Overall cleaning should be more thorough; it is preferable to enter a room with a bathroom that smells of bleach (a sign of good disinfection) than to have no smell at all.

Debido al incivismo de algunos se crean episodios molestos, y no está insonorizado pero se podría arreglar con seguridad que llame la atención y vigile 24h todo el complejo. Que recorran los pasillos y atiendan horarios de descanso. La limpieza en general debería de ser más rigurosa, es preferible entrar en una habitación con baño y que huela a lejía (señal de bien desinfectado) a que no huela a nada.

This accommodation allows pets with the following conditions:
  • Pets are allowed in the hotel: from May 22 to September 12, 2026. Outside these dates the hotel does not accept pets.
  • Price: from 01/07 to 31/08 16 € per night and pet. For the rest of the dates the price per night and pet is 13 €.
  • Maximum weight: No weight limit!
  • Please let the accommodation know in advance that you will be travelling with a pet. A maximum of one pet can sleep in each room. Pets are only allowed in the room, except when the cleaning staff is doing their chores. Pets are not allowed in the main areas (reception, dining room, swimming pool, lounge, etc.), only to access the room or to leave the hotel, and must be leashed. The day of check-out you must leave the hotel at 10:00h because pets are not allowed in the main areas.
  • The pet may not use the bathroom or the bathtub/shower to relieve itself; and it is not allowed to use hotel towels or sheets for grooming. The pet is not allowed to climb on the beds. In case of an accident with another animal or a person, the hotel will not be held responsible for legal purposes.

Very good 7.4 Estefanía Travelled with family July 2026 I stayed at the hotel with my mother and two very young children. The pool facilities were perfect for them and well maintained; they had a great time. The buffet was adequate at all meals and we all enjoyed it — there was variety and they kept it replenished. We stayed 2 days and 1 night. We were given an unrefurbished room; the bathroom could have been better looked after, but it functioned perfectly. The air conditioning worked flawlessly and the room was cool at all times. We only used the room to hang wet clothes, but it has a good terrace with a table and chairs. Overall fine, simple and modest, reasonable for the price. Beach less than 10 minutes away, children's leisure areas (inflatables, bowling alley, ice-cream shops) nearby. I will probably stay for an extra night this summer, just for the children’s enjoyment, bringing a small preventive cleaning kit.

Probablemente repita una noche más este verano, tan solo por el disfrute de los niños, llevando un pequeño kit de limpieza preventiva.
Because of the reviews I was really cautious about where I was taking my family: nothing to worry about. There are, however, some improvements to be made: the pool-area toilets were well designed, but there were many drain flies around the toilets and the shower area was leaking, leaving the bathroom floors wet — this could be dangerous and cause slipping. The evening buffet was quite busy; we arrived at 8pm and had to wait 20 minutes to get in, but after that everything was fine. It would be important for them to hire security staff: after all, it is an affordable hotel that attracts many respectable families wanting to enjoy their stay — we met several such families — but there were also many inconsiderate guests who let their children run in the corridors at night or keep shouting. This isn’t a matter of cultural differences, it’s simply bad manners. The anti-social behaviour of some guests creates unpleasant episodes, and although the hotel isn’t soundproofed, this could be addressed by having security who intervene and patrol the complex 24 hours a day. They should walk the corridors and enforce quiet hours. Overall cleaning should be more thorough; it is preferable to enter a room with a bathroom that smells of bleach (a sign of good disinfection) than to have no smell at all.

Debido al incivismo de algunos se crean episodios molestos, y no está insonorizado pero se podría arreglar con seguridad que llame la atención y vigile 24h todo el complejo. Que recorran los pasillos y atiendan horarios de descanso. La limpieza en general debería de ser más rigurosa, es preferible entrar en una habitación con baño y que huela a lejía (señal de bien desinfectado) a que no huela a nada.
