• If you’re planning on spending most of your holiday on the beach and want to avoid going to the most popular one which is usually very crowded (Platja Gran), then we suggest you go to Platja d’Es Codolar, a small beach a short walk from the old town. The best one if you’re going on a family holiday is a beach called Platja de la Mar Menud as it’s super shallow and protected from the wind, so it’s ideal for kids.

• You don’t have to turn your holiday into a historical visit, but make sure you visit the Old Town (Vila Vella), which is set inside the castle walls. Walk up to the castle at sunset, the views of the town from there are amazing and so is the Mediterranean coastline. Definitely a picture worth framing!

• Trying the local cuisine is a must! Make sure you treat yourself to a seafood platter at one of the local restaurants along the beachfront. Our advice? Always pick the restaurant where you see locals eating.

• Tossa de Mar is a super chilled resort in Costa Brava, so if there’s an evening you want to go clubbing or for a couple of drinks in livelier pubs or even fancy something a little bit more cosmopolitan, then you need to visit Lloret de Mar.
