Why this destination is a must-visit
PortAventura awaits you with excitement, adventure and plenty of adrenaline!
If you’ve never been, get ready: it’s not just a theme park, it’s Spain’s number one leisure destination and one of the best in Europe. Imagine a huge site on the Mediterranean shore where, as soon as you step through the gate, the real world disappears.
What makes it so special?
It’s like travelling the world in a day: it’s divided into themed areas that recreate with lavish detail places such as imperial China, Maya Mexico or the American Wild West. The theming is so impressive you’ll forget you’re in Tarragona!
Fun for every level: you don’t need to be an adrenaline junkie. There are breath‑taking roller coasters as well as gentle boat rides, magical children’s areas and top‑class shows (acrobatics, dance, fire...).
A perfect plan: it’s ideal for families (kids will be amazed), friends (laughter and screams guaranteed) or even couples looking for a different day out.
Which areas will you find?
The experience starts in Mediterrània, a charming Mediterranean fishing village that welcomes you to the park and where the adrenaline spikes with Furius Baco, an intense roller coaster capable of accelerating from 0 to 135 km/h in just three seconds.
From there, the route continues to Polynesia, a lush, tropical area full of exotic vegetation, home to Tutuki Splash, a fun water ride set in a volcano. In China, the grandeur of imperial China and the Himalayas form the backdrop for some of the park’s most iconic attractions, such as Dragon Khan, famous for its eight inversions, and Shambhala, an imposing roller coaster that has become a European benchmark.
Mexico transports visitors to a setting inspired by Maya culture and colonial Mexico, where Hurakan Condor challenges the bravest with a spectacular 100‑metre free fall. The journey continues in Far West, an authentic Wild West town called Penitence, where the classic wooden coaster Stampida coexists with the innovative Uncharted: El Enigma de Penitence.
To round off the experience, SésamoAventura offers a colourful, fun area designed for children, with family attractions like Street Mission, an interactive 3D adventure to enjoy together.
The park also features daily shows, themed dining and services such as the Express Pass, designed so you can make the most of every moment and enjoy your visit with total peace of mind.

Experience the Speed at Ferrari Land
Step into Ferrari Land, the only Ferrari theme park in Europe, and feel the thrill of pure performance. Opened in 2017, this unique destination pays tribute to the legendary Italian racing team with immersive theming inspired by Italy and the world of Formula 1®.
Dare to ride Red Force, the highest and fastest roller coaster in Europe, launching you to 180 km/h in just 5 seconds for an unforgettable surge of acceleration.
Discover cutting-edge simulators, immersive experiences and attractions for all ages, including a dedicated children’s area — where technology, speed and passion come together in spectacular style.
Complete your visit and live the Ferrari spirit at full throttle.

Vila-seca is one of the Costa Dorada's best-kept secrets. Tucked between Tarragona and Salou, this Catalan town pairs a characterful historic centre with La Pineda Platja, its seaside district, where more than three kilometres of fine golden sand slope gently into calm water. It's officially certified as a family-friendly destination, and it shows.
It's the perfect base for families who want beach days and theme parks within easy reach, but also for couples looking for a relaxed, well-connected stay away from the busiest resorts.
Make sure you visit:
Start in the old town, where the Castell de Vila-seca, an imposing fortress that now hosts art exhibitions, sits just a short stroll from the Church of Sant Esteve, whose bell tower rises above the rooftops. Take your time wandering the streets and squares around them, especially in the late afternoon.
From there, head towards the coast along the Raval de la Mar and stop at the Parc de la Torre d'en Dolça, a 37-hectare green space built around a 12th-century watchtower, with the remains of a Roman villa. A little further on, the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de la Pineda, of medieval origin, is a peaceful spot before you reach the sea.
Beaches we think you'll like:
La Pineda beach is the town's star: long, wide and shallow, it's ideal for families with young children. Its newly renovated seafront promenade is perfect for an evening walk, with plenty of places to eat along the way.
If you'd rather escape the crowds, head to Els Prats beach, a quieter, more natural stretch next to the protected wetlands of the Sèquia Major. Platja del Racó, smaller and calmer, is another good option for a relaxed swim.
Family-friendly activities:
A family day out here can easily mix sand and adventure. Spend the morning on La Pineda beach, then cool off at Aquopolis, the water park right in La Pineda. Bigger thrills are just minutes away at PortAventura World, one of Europe's best-known theme parks.
For a calmer day, hire bikes and ride the Raval de la Mar between the town and the coast, then stop for a picnic in the Torre d'en Dolça park, where children have plenty of space to run around.
Local delicacies you have to try:
Food in Vila-seca is all about rice. Order an arròs de mar i muntanya, which combines seafood and meat in one pan, at one of the seafront restaurants, or try a fideuà, the noodle-based cousin of paella.
Look out too for romesco, the local nut and pepper sauce. If you visit in late winter or spring, don't miss calçots, grilled spring onions dipped in romesco, a much-loved tradition across the Camp de Tarragona.
Make the most of your visit:
Vila-seca is a superb base for exploring the Costa Dorada and its hinterland. These are our favourite trips within easy reach:
- Reus (10 minutes): Gaudí's birthplace, full of modernist buildings and great shopping.
- Tarragona (15 minutes): a Roman amphitheatre by the sea and the walls of ancient Tarraco.
- Cambrils (15 minutes): a lively fishing port famous for its seafood restaurants.
- Siurana (50 minutes): a dramatic clifftop village on the edge of the Priorat wine region.
